We live on the corner of What If Street and Why Not Avenue. We have lived here for a very, very long time. It’s the perfect location for our studio practice, where serendipity and improvisation reign supreme. We are eclectic by design. And we never make the same piece twice. Not even close.
Our design philosophy is driven by experimentation and rule-breaking. Lots of rule-breaking. We’re academically trained artists — we know the rules. We just care more about manifesting the stream of visions and ideas that flow through us. This makes our art deeply personal, often irreverent, always unique.
We have actively avoided developing an identifiable “style,” preferring instead to focus on concept and experimental techniques. This, of course, is intentionally breaking THE cardinal rule of artistic practice. Visitors to exhibitions of 2Roses’ work often express incredulity that the variety of art laid before them was all created by the same two people. Never repeating ourselves is the challenge, the goal, and the philosophy.
